During the late hours of Christmas Eve and the early hours of Christmas Day, Officer Nick Medlin, Parkhurst Site, HMP Isle of Wight, was out celebrating with his family and became the victim of a vicious assault in Ventnor. Nick did not regain consciousness and sadly died.

Nick and Dani moved to the Isle of Wight within the past three years while their sons Joe and Charlie stayed on the mainland to continue with their studying. Nick, at the tender age of 55 opted to join the Prison Service and I was his tutor whilst he trained as a Prison Officer at PSC Newbold Revel.

Nick was a well respected member of the section he was in and his peers thought the world of him, he bought a smile to everyone's face and even turned some of the most dullest subjects into humour bringing together his life experiences and former knowledge, there was never a dull moment and Nick was a man that injected enthusiasm into everyone he met.

Nick was a one off a true gentleman and a well respected Prison Officer.
This just giving site has been set up with the approval of Dani, Nick’s wife and we hope to raise funds to support Dani and the family pay for funeral costs and any immediate expenses they may have.

No amount of money will ever bring Nick back but as friends and colleagues of Nicks we can demonstrate our respect for him donating to his memory.
