    Story

    Registered charity no: XR93878

The Mount Kilimanjaro Water Project is comprised of a small group of volunteers that each year visit some of the most remote impoverished parts of Tanzania, with a mission to provide running water.

Access to this most basic human need is the first step out of poverty as it creates a foundation for the communities we work alongside to grow, and so, an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty.

On our missions, the team have drilled various wells to retrieve clean accessible water. This has allowed us to build medical centers, health clinics, schools, and workshops in extremely rural areas of East Tanzania.

The centers, schools and workshops are worked by local Tanzanians. This allows the community to be self-sufficient and sustainable.

Every year prior to travelling to the mission, voluntary committee members and advisers carefully plan the construction and prepare the materials for the completion of each individual project.

At the backdrop to each of our projects in a fundamental component - intensive fundraising.

Generous donations from all our supporters fund a 20 ft container packed with essential items to aid the mission and shipment of the container to Africa.

This year our focus is to provide our extremely rural mission with a continual electricity supply through a solar panel system. We hope to power the medical center, maternity clinic, operations theater, wood workshop, and street lighting through this system.

Further, we aim to continue to supply our mission with relevant plumbing equipment for the drilling of wells, water purification systems, the required medical equipment and materials and essential woodwork machines to enhance the self-sustainability of our mission.

Our charity has built strong links with many supporters, volunteers, advisers and Tanzanians over the last 25yrs. We are extremely grateful to all our contributors and can assure you all donations are efficiently utilised
