Story

I’m beyond heart broken writing this so I can only imagine what his family and Monica and the kids are feeling. He was a legend, like a daft big brother to everyone, he had a close to the bone unique sense of humour and loved a joke. David had been out on the Sunday and having a few drinks, spent a few hours in the Masonic and then The Goldenhill, then back to my house and went home around 1am. His brother Gregg spoke to him Monday afternoon around 1.15pm and he was gonna go for a wee kip. Monica popped home at 2.45 and Tragically David was unconscious in bed, when the paramedics arrived they worked on David for 45 minutes but there was nothing they could do 💔💔 Wether u had just met David or knew him for 30+ years, wether u were young or old, David had time for everybody treated you the same and used his unique sense of humour and that big beaming smile and laugh of his to make u feel at home. David by his very nature loved giving, loved helping, so much so he turned it into his work career and worked in a childrens home providing care and guidance for kids who never had any or had fallen into a different path from his own. He loved Rangers unbelievably, and also working in Holland in his younger days he had an affinity for Feyenoord as well. He said to me in the Club on Sunday that his week would’ve been the best ever if Feyenoord had gotten a result at Parkhead. He had Dutch friends over for the game and they managed to get him a ticket so he was in the Feyenoord end and in his element ❤️🇳🇱 David being David also sat in the home end at Celtic Park as one of the kids from the home wanted to go to Parkhead. David took him albeit I think he wore a Groucho Marx disguise. He loved a story our David, loved talking about Rangers and could tell u a story for every game he’s been to. And his eyes lit up whenever he heard the word Marseille, and when he heard the word mentioned there was always a 10 minute story coming about the time he was there, so much so it became a running joke of our bus chat with David. Life just isn’t fair at times. David tragically leaves behind his partner Monica, his two beautiful kids Emily, 11 and Evan 7, his legendary mum and dad Mary & Bruce, his brother Gregg and sister Vicky, and his 2 nieces Nieve and Mylah. Beyond gutted is an understatement, and the world is a darker place this morning. Fudgey to his older m8’s, David to me, Partner, Father, Son, Brother & Uncle to his nearest and dearest. Friend to everyone.
