    Story

Mikey Griffiths, 12 years old from Bettws, is fighting the fatal condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This devastating muscle disease affects mainly boys and in the later stages causes the heart and breathing muscles to fail. Tragically, those diagnosed with this type of muscular dystrophy rarely live past the age of 20.

Mikey was diagnosed at just 6 weeks old and up until 2 years ago, he was able to live a relatively normal life and loved playing football. Mikey is now confined to a wheelchair and his condition is deteriorating rapidly. His parents have had to adapt their home for Mikey to sleep downstairs, something he is afraid of doing alone. Cruelly, he is being bullied at his school because of his condition.

We would like to raise as much money as possible for this brave little boy and his family to be able to enjoy a holiday at Euro Disney while Mikey can still travel, and also to help them fund any further adaptations they may need as Mikey’s condition worsens.

We are going to be climbing Pen-y-Fan Mountain on 18th – 19th March. Some of us are aiming to do this ten times over a 24 hour period, others will do as much as they can physically manage. If you would like to donate to this wonderful cause, please fill in the above sponsor form.

If you would like to join us on our climb, please email mikeyscause@outlook.com for further information.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your kind donations.
