Story
Mary’s Place® : Helping Newly Registered Professionals to Thrive
Mary’s Place® was created to support newly registered professionals during their critical transition into professional practice, helping them not just survive but thrive. Healthcare and teaching are facing high turnover rates, with many newly registered professionals leaving within their first years. This initial project focuses on supporting newly registered nurses, as we know this period is particularly challenging, and early-career support can make a lasting difference.
Vision: provide newly registered professionals with a supportive and safe environment where they can transition from student to professional with confidence, reflecting on personal growth while connecting with like-minded peers.
Mission: to offer holistic support for newly qualified professionals through a combination of professional expertise and wellness practices. Mary’s Place® empowers individuals by fostering gratitude, reflection, awareness, connection, and self-empowerment, helping them thrive, and remain in their new careers.
Mary’s Place® was established in memory of Mary-Lou Abbott, daughter of our founder, Julie Bilboe-Crane. Mary-Lou was 22 years old when she passed away from meningoencephalitis in January 2020. A Law graduate with a deep commitment to helping others, Mary-Lou’s legacy lives on through this initiative.
Julie combines her expertise as a Nurse Lecturer and Certified Mindfulness and Resilience Coach to create a supportive community at Mary’s Place® . Soon to complete her ILM Level 7 in Executive Coaching & Mentoring, as well as ILM recognition in Well-Being Coaching, Julie and the team at Mary's Place® bring decades of professional experience to this cause. Mary’s Place® offers Well-Being Days, online and in-person coaching, and a supportive Facebook group for peer connection.
As a not-for-profit company, registered as Mary’s Place® CIC Company No: 15047153, your donation directly funds our well-being days, launched in September 2023. With your support, we can continue empowering newly registered professionals to thrive in their careers. For further information about activity so far and our plans for 2025, please see our Annual Report.
Thank you for helping build a legacy of resilience, compassion, and professional growth.
