Story
Margaret Lindsay Williams (1888-1960) of Windsor Road, Barry was one of the most famous Welsh artists of the 20th century. Highly regarded during her lifetime, a painter of monarchs, politicians, presidents, soldiers and society figures, and a war artist during the First World War, she lies in a plot without a permanent marker in Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery.
A campaign has been launched to raise the £2,000 required to fund the cost of designing, producing and installing a headstone to commemorate her life. Appeal organiser Dr Jonathan Hicks is working in partnership with Art Central Friends of Barry to raise the funds to complete this project.
