I've raised £10000 to help fund Marco's rehabilitation progress

*** March 5th event: Please see update below ***
Marc James Nunn, known to his friends as Marco, is a hard working man who has worked tirelessly across the hospitality sector for 20 years. As part of the LGBTQ+ community, Marco is well liked and respected by many with a huge circle of friends from all walks of life. An ambassador of Reading Pride and former inclusion officer at the local rugby team: the Reading Renegades RFC.
Just a few days after his 40th birthday, a life-changing event occurred which left Marco fighting for his life. Marco suffered a severe aortic tear and was found lying outside his bathroom by his housemate. He was rushed to Royal Berkshire Hospital but his condition was so bad he had to be transferred, immediately, to Saint Barts Hospital in London where he was operated on by a top specialist. Unfortunately due to a lack of blood on his left side, the surgeons had to amputate his leg above the knee. Marco suffered numerous setbacks, including another cardiac arrest and a stroke, all whilst in a coma. He remained in an induced coma for 14 weeks and had over 10 critical surgeries during this time. However, he kept fighting and was nicknamed “Wonder Boy” by the staff that cared for him.
Happily, he has made it through and regained all his mental abilities and now has the long process of building himself back up. He has now been transferred to a specialist unit back in his hometown of Plymouth, where his parents still live, and he works hard with the physio every day. One of his future goals is to get a blade and start running and it is our goal to help him achieve his dream. This just giving page is to help Marco with his goals and for everyone to show their support.
