    Story

    EMILY MCDONALDS LIFE CHANGING FUNDRAISER.

The money raised will fund Emily to go to America to have 14 weeks of treaments. This is her best chance to be able to walk again. Her family dont have words to describe how thankful they are for everyone donating as this could give her the only option left to be able to walk again.

Please see below a speech from Emilys Page

hey i’m sure you all know me and what has gone on but if you don’t i have a condition called complex regional pain syndrome. Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a poorly understood condition where a person experiences persistent severe and debilitating pain. The pain feels like a mixture of stabbing, burning and quite often it feels like my bones are snapping. It can cause swelling, color change, loss of feeling, massively increased sensitivity and even for your body to reject limbs. So for me in march 2021 i had my appendix out it was a routine operation that changed my life completely i went from being the most active 14 year old to not being able to do anything for myself in a matter of days. I woke up from my initial operation thinking i would return to my old life but after a week all my pain came back. I struggled with everything and i couldn't get myself food, drink or do anything that 2 weeks ago i used to not even think twice about. Over the next year I had two more operations and after the 3rd one I woke up with no ability to stand or sit myself. I couldn't physically sit up without the help from people around me! I struggled even more with my walking and at this point I was fully relying on crutches for any movement and having to use a wheelchair for longer distances. This was so incredibly hard for me as it meant i couldn't be a teenager, i couldn't go out with my friends and i struggled with school because nobody understood me and what my day to day life was like. Time went by and each day got a bit harder. I had now been suffering for 2 years. I had lost movement in my left arm and in June 2022 I lost all movement in my right leg! I suffered absolutely excruciating pain, meaning I couldn't put any weight through it without screaming in agony. This meant i had to stay in hospital for 11 weeks over the summer and the reason for this was because i couldn't even do the stairs with help from my family. It led me to have an air cast boot This in the long run has meant that I can't touch or walk without it. I have my boot off for 1 hour a day and even something as small as the breeze feels like everything is on fire. I now have to use a wheelchair for any distances longer than 15 meters and when I do walk it's slow and incredibly painful. I have had weekly physio for 2 and a half years now and although I have made small improvements I'm not where I want or need to be. So, the reason i am writing this today is because I need your help! We have exhausted all options on the nhs and if we keep up the physio and progress i am currently making it will be more years of my life stolen from me but .. there is one thing that can help. And that is the Spero clinic! The Spero Clinic is my only choice, it’s a centre in america that cure all people that go there! the only place in the world able to do that! i would be there for around 14 weeks and come out recovered They focus on the whole body and promise one thing HOPE. They show patients a new quality of life. They use various different treatment plans that nowhere else in the world offers. The success rate is astonishingly high and wheelchair users come out fully walking again. But and the but is the finance! It costs just over $3000 a week, this doesn't include accommodation or money to cover food etc the total would be around $55,000 which is never possible for us as a family. So i have decided the only way I'm going to get there is to fundraise! So what i've decided to do is reach out to people like you and ask for your help. I'm asking if anyone would be interested in helping me with a fundraiser! my idea is if i can get enough people involved we can get me there and i can get my life back Whatever that is would be greatly appreciated! We are hoping to do an event that includes an auction and food etc to raise as much money as possible so if you could help in any way i would appreciate it so much! Whether it’s fundraising or donations anything would be huge ! It’s unfortunately my last hope Thank you for taking the time to read this i appreciate every single one of you
