Macosquin Primary School Choir auditioned for the National Choir of the Year 2016 in April of this year, competing against 44 children's choirs nationwide.

Just within weeks, the choir were delighted to receive the wonderful news that they are successfully through to the category finals, being the only primary school from Northern Ireland to compete at this stage!

We will travel to Birmingham to compete in the National Choir of the Year 2016 in the Symphony Hal on Sunday 16th October 2016. This prestigious event is the UK's largest choral competition and our school is honoured to be part of it. This will be a fabulous experience for the pupils of the choir whilst also putting our rural school, situated on the outskirts of Coleraine town, 'on the map'!

However, this event will pose a huge financial burden on parents and the school as flights and accommodation have to be paid for be each of the 35 children taking part. We would be extremely grateful for any sponsors to help with our trip to Birmingham.

The children will be working extremely hard in the next few weeks leading up to the competition, clocking up around 5 hours of rehearsals over each week!
