Story
We are undertaking a massive project to rescue two historic ships from demolition. The MV Hengist and MV Horsa used to serve the uk Folkestone to French ports route. The ships were sold in the early 90's to Greek firms to serve there lives out around the islands of Greece until the certain fait of being scrapped on the shores of Ålang India.
Firstly this type of demolition is so harmful to the environment and secondly these ships (the Hengist especially ) has a big history and heritage in the uk being the ship that was thrown ashore in the great storm of 1987.
Our children of today simply see the new cross channel ferries come and go a bit like modern trains. As horrible as they were towards the end slam door trains are a massive part of British heritage such as these ships.
We are rescuing these ships and particularly urgently the MV Hengist as it is semi sunk and a prime candidate for the demolition yard.
The plan is to bring them back to the uk the Hengist being a floating museum of the cross channel history and interactive children's areas explaining uk cross channel history. Hope to have the ships birthed at Folkestone thus reviving the town and tourist trade there. (Tbc) failing this newhaven is a prime candidate as the third sister (Senlac) sailed from here. Sadly Senlac was demolished a while ago.
We are proposing the MV Horsa to be re fitted In her sealink British ferries livery and to sail from Folkestone up and down the channel on day trips with the possibility or stopping at newhaven . This vessel again will have a history of the channel crossings focus while being a time warp for children and adults of today being as she was in the 80's when she was in active service.
But first and foremost we need to rescue the duo first. This is where you come in, we need t pay to have them tugged back to the uk and pay for the vessels. We need to re float the MV Hengist and as you can imagine this is not cheep. Please help us rescue these vessels .
