    Story

This crowd funding page for Lucas covers a number of different events, including 'Team Lucas' who are entering the Potters 'Arf Marathon on Sunday 12th June and Gordon Brough who is doing an Iron Man Triathlon for Lucas' Legacy on Saturday 25th June.

Lucas, age 6 was a bright, athletic and much-loved boy. He loved school, football, Stoke City, riding his bike and playing with his friends. He was a keen footballer and enrolled on the City 7s scheme.

Lucas had never been ill, or had a day off school until May 2015, when he was suddenly taken poorly. The following day Lucas was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Following a short battle, fought with great courage and bravery, Lucas tragically passed away at home 11 weeks and one day later, just 4 weeks before his 7th birthday.

Brain tumours are responsible for more cancer deaths in children than any other tumour type. Childhood Brain Tumour Research receives less than 1% of all cancer research funding. There is a serious lack of research funding and a desperate need to undertake research to develop new and more effective treatments for children.

Your donation will support Lucas' Legacy. Our 2016 Fundraising Campaign is to establish 'The Lucas Williams Brain Tumour Research Fund’. We are working with the UK's leading Scientists from the Institute for Cancer Research to fund groundbreaking research with the aim of finding treatments for Childhood Brain Tumours like the one Lucas had, leading to improved survival and reduced suffering of children in the future.

We are very grateful for your support.
