Story
In January 2017 I was diagnosed with a rare form of Breast Cancer, Pagets Disease of the Breast, at Lincoln Breast Clinic.
My consultant and nursing team on my first appointment were amazing. Despite my young age, they did not stop at not seeing anything on the mammogram or ultrasound and took a biopsy too, just to be safe. They were so thorough and they did all those tests on one day.
Sadly, my biopsy came back as cancer and I had to have most of my right breast removed and the results from that showed that I had some invasive cancer so I had to have another operation to remove a couple of lymph nodes.
Luckily that came back with more positive news as the cancer had not spread but I still have to have chemotherapy and this is where my plea comes in!!
I have been blessed by an amazing breast unit here in Lincoln. The entire team there is just phenomenal from the clinic to the surgery side. When I was frightened before surgery they helped me, when I was fearful of dressing changes they were gentle with me and when rare diagnosis came and treatment plans were pondered, they took the time to deal with them properly and professionally whilst giving me all the information I needed to sooth my worried mind.
My way to thank them is to raise as many pennies as I can for them to say thank you for all they have done and will continue to do for me throughout my treatment. I want to pay it forward to those who will need their love and care also.
I don't want to give my hair chance to fall out, I want it to do some good first so I will be having it all shaved off as soon as my chemotherapy starts. This is a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge thing for me as I really rather like my hair...but..I love my cancer team more and I want to show them just how special they really are.
