Story
Christmas 2021 Lee unknowingly had an episode of Multiple Sclerosis, going into hospital with a suspected, brain tumour, This left him hospitalised, unable to walk and impaired speech. Lee left hospital with a RRms diagnosis leaving him for bed bound, through his social network and people reaching out Lee was guided toward Canadian Drs who specialised in multiple sclerosis. through this, Lee lost 12 stones in weight learn to walk again talk again all through diet, exercise & wellbeing alone.
Lee has unfortunately been missed diagnosed for previous episodes by the NHS, but after his best recovery from his by far worse episode on the Canadians approach, Lee choose not to go on the DMT’s drugs offered by the NHS, which would give him side effects and possibly not work at all. The drug approach has been left on the table as an option.
In 2023 Lee was offered after being recommended to be part of a Stem Cell transplant trail in UK, Lee underwent 3 months of some of the most stringent medical tests, spinal taps, hours of MRI’s, but unfortunately when it came to the final, 50-50 randomisation play was on the other part of the 50-50. Lee has been told through the tests he has progressively advancing multiple sclerosis and a recommendation to get a stem cell transplant to help stop any progression and the best 1st line treatment availabl.
Lee has since been handed back to the NHS, who have looked into getting the stem cell transplant on compassionate grounds through the NHS, but unfortunately Lee does not qualify because he hasn’t failed any drugs routes offered in the past, Lee had chosen not do follow the drug route due to the risk of having an episode and relapse by taking the drugs which only have a 37% of working based on 2yrs of research evidenc.
A stem cell transplant 80% chance of working based on 20years of use, along with his lifestyle will basically cure him to lead a life without fear of a further episodes that could lead to no return due to his lesion scaring on his brain & spinal cord from years of attacks.
Lee has had recomendations by the worlds leading Drs/professors to get the HSCT ASAP as gives him the best chance of a less disabilitating life, and gives Lee a possibility of being able to get a new Myelin cell re-generation in the future 7-8yrs away thats currently in trail And possibly lead to the cure to MS.
arrangements .transplant to halt the progression, HSCT is the best 1st line treatment available currently.
