This is an appeal for donations for emergency rooms and hospitals in Omdurman (in Khartoum) that are dealing with the combined fallout of a devastating war and a vicious season of flash floods.

The scale and speed of the destruction has been so dizzying.Since the beginning of the war in Sudan more than 6 months ago more than 5 million people have been internally displaced , 10,000 lives taken, 12,000 people injured, and 80% of hospitals have been destroyed or are out of service due to lack of funds. The remaining hospitals are operating at partial capacity and face critical medical and energy shortages.

These are particularly difficult days for Omdurman. The constant aerial bombardment by the army, heavy occupation of neighbourhoods by the RSF militia, and collapse of the medical and banking infrastructure have intensified the web of suffering and impossibility in the region. Hospitals already stretched to the brink are overwhelmed with the wounded. Health workers are regularly attacked and harassed by the militia and their supplies are looted/destroyed (see reports linked below).

The least that staff who have chosen to stay in these hellish circumstances deserve is the resources they need to treat people. The money raised will go towards covering the costs of medical supplies, medication, and food at 3 medical facilities in the region - Al Buluk, Al Nao, and Umbadda hospitals. These hospitals are doing vital work as the last remaining facilities with a trauma emergency room or surgical capacity in north Omdurman. The situation on the ground changes very quickly, so the split will be determined based on the most urgent needs at the end of the fundraiser.
