In September 2016 our darling daughter Nicole was diagnosed with an ultra rare neurodegenerative condition called Batten Disease. Nicole was four and a half years old. Our hearts shattered and our worlds fell apart but our heartache was not over because only 3 months later our baby girl Jessica who was just 15 months old was also diagnosed with the same devastating disease. Nicole's condition meant that she experienced frequent seizures and gradually lost her mobility and independent skills. Despite bravely battling with this heartbreaking condition and receiving fortnightly treatment to slow the progression of the disease, our darling Nicole sadly passed away on 23rd of October 2023 aged just 11.

Jessica is doing incredibly well & continues having her fortnightly brain infusions which are keeping her alive and healthy. Jessica is bringing hope and sparkling her magic everywhere she goes, just as her big sister Nicole did every day.

Nicole & Jessica’s big brother Louis is their hero and he deserves a mention as he is an incredible boy and we are so proud of him.

We are taking part the Glasgow Kiltwalk for the very first time as a family in Nicole's memory and our darling will be with us at every step.

Alongside some of our amazing friends we will proudly flying the flag for Battens, raising awareness and remembering our precious darling Nicole.

We are raising funds at the Kiltwalk for our foundation - The Nicole and Jessica Rich Foundation. The funds raised will help us make precious memories as a family and to help us to support Jessica in the future.
