Fundraising Event 💚 ⚽️

On 27th July after the Saracens 1st team Vs Saracens Legends game, Kayla and Tom will be walking/running 15 laps (5k) around the pitch to raise funds for The DSA (Dwarf Sports Association UK) and for The Petersfield Partnership (New Community Hub)

From Kayla’s Mum

This is Kayla, she is 12 years old and has Achondroplasia, most commonly known as dwarfism.

Achondroplasia is where the long bones in the forearms and thighs are shorter than average (shorter limbs). 80% of children born with this are from average height parents. The condition can cause health issues such as; Back and leg pain, breathing problems, obesity, recurring ear infections, curved spine, bowed legs, excessive fluid on the brain, sleep apnea.

Kayla’s aim is to raise awareness of dwarfism! She wants people to see past her height and condition.

“I am more than my height!”

Be open, be accepting, be kind.

The DSA ( Dwarf Sports Association UK) has always been a second home to her and her family. They are a charity who help the dwarfism community by offering opportunities to take part in activities as well as sports. This offers children and adults with dwarfism a chance to try out a new sport and to also make friends for life.

Kayla competes in the National Games once a year.

The DSA are so important to everyone because it builds so much confidence in people and allows them to compete fairly.

Tom has been working with Kayla for a few years now and has helped her through many problems that she has faced. He has built up her confidence and has helped her deal with hard situations. Tom boosts Kayla and checks in all the time when he knows she is struggling.

We are so grateful to have him working with Kayla. She enjoys her sessions with him and appreciates his support. After all he is her ‘Bruv’ 😂😎
