Story

Tree of Memories

The Rotary club of Innerleithen, Walkerburn & Traquair will be erecting a 12-foot tree in the grounds of St James’s church on the corner of Traquair Road and Innerleithen High Street. The tree will be opened on Sunday 29th November, the first day of Advent.

People can write a message in memory of someone special, a relative, a friend and even a pet on a blue or white ribbon that will be hung on the tree. There will be no charge for the Ribbons and voluntary donations will be accepted online via JustGiving, from The Hub, The Thrift shop, and several cafes in the town with all the proceeds going to the Comforts Fund at St Ronan’s Care Home.

This is a chance to remember your loved ones in a simple but poignant way as we approach a Christmas at the end of a turbulent year.

The ribbons will be left on the tree until 3rd January when a live streamed ecumenical blessing will be held at the Tree at 1pm for all those remembered on the Rotary Tree of Memories.
