Story

Treasure Beach is a small fishing and farming community on the south coast of Jamaica that in recent years has embraced the idea of community tourism as a way of bringing in more income. Over the years it has attracted many visitors from all over the globe, many who return on a regular basis, and some who even set up home here. It has a warm tropical climate, beautiful natural surroundings and laid-back lifestyle, but the most important attraction is the beautiful, kind, warm and welcoming people.

I first discovered Treasure Beach over thirteen years ago and fell in love with the community. Since then it has become my second home where I come to unwind and reconnect with both myself and the many friends I have made there. I have had so much support in establishing my little home and getting involved in community projects and events.

On Wednesday 3rd July 2024, Hurricane Beryl hit the south coast of Jamaica with its full Category 4 force with up to 150 mph winds and driving rain, sustained for many hours. The Treasure Beach area was the most badly affected community on the entire island. It caused huge devastation, with no one left unaffected. Parts of the community were literally flattened, roofs ripped off countless homes, schools, churches and businesses, homes flooded, roads blocked by fallen power and communication lines and trees.

I want to raise money to help the local people who have been devastated by the hurricane to rebuild their lives. The money raised will be used to provide the food, building materials, school equipments and anything else they need to get back on their feet. Jamaicans are very resilient, but after this, even they need a helping hand.

Thank you.
