Story
Glenrothes Amateur Swimming Club was formed over 50 years ago catering for all swimmers of all abilities and currently has over 100 swimmers ranging from age 5 up to 18 years of age. We also have a squad of Master Swimmers for those aged 25 years and older. The club is fully inclusive providing training and coaching for all genders, ages and abilities.
The club runs 4 main events during the year in addition to all the training and coaching with each event costing over £2500.
The total cost of running the club which is run entirely by volunteers is over £40,000 pa. and is run by a group of approximately forty unpaid volunteers. These costs are borne by voluntary donations and the families associated with the members. The cost of running the club in 2021-22 was £54,000, and this is where the club look for support from local sponsors to support the increase in financial demand.
Given current economic challenges these costs are becoming more challenging for many families, and we are seeking support from the local business community to help us provide both the existing training and coaching opportunities and extend the club and attract more children to the world of swimming and all the associated health and wellbeing benefits.
