Story
This is the updated page for Gunjur Dog Patrol (previous page) Thanks to all those that have helped us raise money so far and to those that give monthly. All donations go directly to support local dogs in and around Gunjur in The Gambia.
Our dog patrol rangers (Lamin, Blaise and Ajie) cycle into the communities in and around Gunjur everyday to treat dogs and talk to their owners about how to prevent future issues. They have become well known loally and now receive phone calls when there are dogs needing our help.
We also hold neuter clinics to help reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies and vaccination sessions. All together this vital support prevents suffering and creates a healthy dog population.
Your money provides vital medical supplies to enable Lamin, Blaise and Ajie to do their work. In an average week they meet around 60 dogs and treat around 50 of them for a variety of issues like skin problems, wounds and mango worms. We have an Amazon Wishlist for those that would rather purchase much needed supplies directly.
Our target is to neuter 50 dogs over the next year and if we achieve our fundraising target this will be one of our priorities. In addition we are committed to holding workshops and encouraging young dog owners to learn how best to care for their dogs and puppies.

18 days agoSo excited to let you know that our first Dog Club for Kids met recently. 🐾😍 Every second Saturday, our dog rangers will spend time with the kids and teach them how to increase their knowledge and to become responsible dog owners. Last Saturday, six excited dog owners turned up and they had a great time with our rangers. Many more kids said they will join next time! A big thank you to Gunjur Village Development Committee and AFNOW for the support. And of course to our dog rangers for the amazing work Blaise Gomez, Lamin Jarju & Ajie Njie.

2 months agoI’m really sorry to report that Tell That died recently whilst giving birth during the night. Sad news for the Rangers who spent many hours treating her. We do have some positive news though. Today though two puppies were found abandoned, checked over by Blaise, treated for mango worms and now have a new loving home nearby.

3 months agoAs you can imagine the dog rangers get through a huge amount of dressings and medication treating dogs and sometimes the treatment goes on for along time. Autumn is a really good time to purchase and donate something from our Amazon Wishlist (https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/OL8VEE5W3BK...) that we can take out with us in early November. Also do sign up for our latest newsletter http://eepurl.com/iP4lmQ Thank you so much for all your donations. Jo
