Story

Fundacion Pet Aid Colombia is a Non-Profit organisation founded in 2013 by Gunter Kook in Barranquilla, Colombia. It currently houses around 80 dogs and cats including 13 Bull Terriers. There are no animal welfare laws in Colombia and it is down to people like Gunter to rescue and keep safe these animals from harm and cruelty, which sadly in Colombia is rife. He tries to rescue, rehabilitate, recover and rehome the animals through adoption and relies solely on donations to enable the shelter to do this and to function. The shelter currently has two full time employees as Gunter also has to work full time to pay bills both at home for his family and to contribute as much as he can personally towards the shelter running costs. It costs around $1400 each month to feed the animals and another $1200 for shelter running costs, including utilities and employees. This is without the inevitable, and regular, emergencies that come in when Gunter is contacted by other groups and individuals to help and assist animals in need.
