Story
We're 3 students at the University of Worcester running 15km on Friday 17th March in order to raise money under Friends of Fort Royal Community Primary School for children with special educational needs aged between 3-11 for the 240 children at the school. These children have learning and physical disabilities and some have life limiting conditions.
The school aims to meet the physical, educational, social and medical needs of all the children in a safe, caring and happy learning environment.
Using the money we plan on raising, the school will be using the funding to transform its outdoor spaces into more accessible and friendly ones enhancing and supporting the children's speech and language development.
One of our team members who is taking part in the run has cerebral palsy, a serious neurological condition which affects movement and coordination increasing the difficulty of completing the run. However, this is a challenge he wants to achieve due to the passion that he has of helping children with similar conditions to him.
An example of the equipment being bought for the school are height appropriate tables and benches for children in wheelchairs to work on, a specially planted sensory area where more severely disabled children can experience, smell and touch to enhance learning and social skills.
Any donations that can be given would be highly appreciated and make a positive impact upon the children's lives.
Many thanks,
Joe, Shea and Elliot :)
