Story
As we all know too well, the cost of living is continually increasing, never mind the cost of hobbies and the overheads incurred by organisations supporting children to pursue their dreams. The Duke of Buccleuch Pony Club have generously been able to support their members over the years, by covering some of the big costs associated with competing such as stabling and entries. They have kept the cost of lessons, camps and multiple tests (with some tests being fully and partially funded by the branch) to an absolute minimum. This has allowed children from all walks of life to participate in a hobby they love and lessening the financial constraints this can place on families. Sadly, due to the increasing costs, the club are potentially facing some difficult decisions when it comes to the support they can provide for their members and sadly, this may prevent some children from being able to attend competitions or sit exams. This is a situation the club and no parent would want to deprive any child of.
Freya has decided to take matters into her own hands and do her bit for the club to try and ensure they can continue to support their members and families as they have done so for years.
Freya is going to run 100 miles in October. A whole 161 Kilometres, almost the equivalent of Galashiels to Edinburgh and back again, TWICE! Her little legs will certainly be busy but she is totally up for the challenge. It will be a busy month for Freya, fitting in the miles along side riding her ponies and other sport activities. but it’s a challenge she is willing to take on, in a bid to help The Duke of Buccleuch Pony Club. Freya will be supported and ‘coached’ by her sister Lois who will be cycling alongside her.
Any kind donations or offers of company for Freya would be gratefully received. As mentioned above, we know times are tough but any little you can spare helps and Freya is extremely grateful 🩵
