*PLEASE HELP ME RAISE £2,000+ TO HELP IMPROVE PHYSICAL EDUCATION FOR OVER 440 CHILDREN*

When the clock struck 40, I was slapped with some ‘mid-life crisis’ magic and declared that I was going to take up running, having never really enjoyed it before. My first run on 1st January 2023 was a very slow and painful 2.5miles and I returned home resembling an asthmatic tomato. Fast forward and I can say words I never thought would cross my lips…on Sunday 14th April 2024 I will be partaking in Manchester Marathon! A little ambitious to go from zero-26.2miles in under 15months, but I am nothing if not determined and I know I will cross that finish line (even if I still resemble an asthmatic tomato!).

To make the blood (literal), sweat (gallons) and tears (buckets) worth it, I am looking to raise at least £2,000 to donate to Friends of Fairfield (Registered Charity 1183113) who raise money for Fairfield Primary School in Cockermouth, Cumbria. Fairfield is a truly amazing school that strives to enrich the lives of their pupils in all ways, including encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle. The current school premises do not offer the amenities to fully realise Fairfield’s ambitions, especially for Physical Education. The field is not directly attached to the premises and has no storage available, making its routine use logistically difficult in its current condition. It requires full re-development to transition it from an underutilised resource to one that is used daily and there are plans being made to progress this as a long-term project. However, current funding does not allow the school to progress this project at present. My aim is to raise the money needed to enable the school to install some robust storage for equipment and increase the use of the field until the funds to progress the full project are raised.

The target of £2,000 equates to approximately £4.50 per child. I would be hugely grateful for any support to raise this money, not only to benefit my daughters who adore their school, but the other 440+ pupils who attend and, possibly longer-term, the wider community.

Any surplus funds will be used to supplement money being raised to install a Sensory Room for the school’s SEND pupils and other children with SEND needs in the local community.
