Story
My partner, Ian Welsh, nearly died. He had an undiagnosed heart condition, and had a sudden cardiac arrest. He was lucky, he survived. I also know others that weren't so lucky as to be able to tell their story...
People die every day from sudden cardiac death, usually an due to undiagnosed heart condition - what starts out as an ordinary day may not end well for those unfortunate people that suffer a sudden cardiac arrest if they are not helped quickly. Time is of the essence.
Defibrillators can save lives... If death is avoidable, let's avoid it!
Friends of John Leigh Park are leading this project to keep our park as safe as possible by installing a defibrillator. We are supporting their efforts to help raise funds to pay for the unit which has been loaned to us in advance of raising the funds with the help of Ian Lilley of the new solar powered superbin defibrillator. The complete project will cost approx. £3k, we are hoping to give them as much as possible of this, with an initial target of £1k - if you lovely people prove generous then we will increase the target further.

8 years agoA huge THANK YOU to all of the lovely people that have donated to our fund for the defib in John Leigh Park so far. Such a great cause close to our hearts, pardon the pun! We're now 75% of the way to our initial target - total budget for the project is £3k so we might even get to increase our contribution to the project. Please share with any likeminded people who you think might like to support our cause. THANKS A MILLION :) Connie & Ian

I'm not a typical or eager fundraiser. But this is a project close to my heart as Ian suffered a cardiac arrest in the park and there was no defib around to help. We were lucky, he lived to tell the tale, but if it happens to someone else, a defib might help save their life.
