Story
We, Dance 4 Parkinson’s Wells, are a unique group established and run by individuals living with Parkinson's. Our shared experience of living with Parkinson's and other neurological conditions such as MS has brought us together to engage in physical activity, have fun, and support each other in living well with Parkinson’s. We firmly believe that we are more than our diagnosis.
As demonstrated in our film, our dance group plays a significant role in the quality of our lives. Because of the expert guidance of our three dance practitioners, we are able to challenge ourselves and involve everyone, no matter their ability. Having such skilled people to support us enables us to do more and be fully inclusive. The cost per person for one class is £30, which we all contribute towards. However, we need funding to subsidise those who are unable to afford the total price.
We are applying to the National Lottery for a grant to develop our work, and the application will be more successful if we can show match funding.
We want to develop our existing dance session into a creative hub for people living with Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions.
This hub will foster community, provide peer support and skills development, raise awareness of neurodegenerative conditions, and inspire others to find purpose, be of service, and live boldly.
We need £1500 to keep our group going until we get our funding decision, but we are aiming for a total of £3000, so we have match funding for the lottery application. Your support is crucial in helping us continue our mission.
