Story

Rainford Cricket Club Challenge 2024

Following the successful club and charity fundraising events of the last few years, we are looking to complete a new and even more daunting challenge for 2024.

The 2023 season was probably the most successful season in the Club's history, with the first team finishing in its highest ever position of 4th in the Liverpool Competition Premier League and rounding it off with winning the Ray Digman Trophy. Inspired by this, Steve Harrison's idea this year is a 82.4 mile relay walk in 24 hours over a 3.5 mile circuit around the village. In deciding on this challenge, Steve has measured the distance between Rainford Cricket Club and all the teams in the Premier Division which amounts to the challenge's distance.

Starting on Saturday the 25th May, with the walk continuing throughout the night and finishing on Sunday 26th May, cricket club players, members and supporters will attempt to complete the challenge. Each lap of the 3.5 mile circuit around the village will need to be completed in under an hour for the challenge to be successful. This will be a true test of stamina and determination for all those taking part.

Many thanks to RCC event sponsor Bespoke Flooring and all our sponsors for their continued support of the club with these types of challenges, it is much appreciated. As with last year, the fundraising will be split between the cricket club and two worthy causes:-

Willowbrook Hospice

Standing Tall Foundation

Both provide invaluable assistance, care and help to many in the local community.
