Story
Cooper and his friends turn 5 this year and are going to cycle 5 miles to raise awareness for those suffering from allergies and at risk of anaphylaxis. Cooper like many children has an allergy. Cooper is allergic to nuts and legumes (Peanuts, lentils, chickpeas, peas, beans, Lupin etc). They are raising money for a new, specialised medical kit for their new primary school (Kirby Muxloe). The kit contains life-saving Epi-Pens as well as offering accessible training for all school staff. We hope that these anaphylaxis kits will become defibrillator kits' best friends around all schools and other community locations. Anaphylaxis is a severe, life-threatening allergic reaction that can happen within seconds or minutes after exposure to an allergen. Too many children's lives have been lost to anaphylaxis, including while attending school. Raising awareness will help close the gap in allergy education, understanding and availability of medications. Providing access to anaphylaxis kits in schools could save a child's life in an emergency situation as sometimes treating anaphylaxis requires multiple shots of adrenaline.
The medical kit costs £650 per year for 5-years (£3,250 total). Anything we can raise to support this initiative would be greatly appreciated.
