I've raised £800 to pay cat vet bills & cremation. I have insurance, but as she was old, there is excess & high 20% co-payment fees. I’m disabled & can't work.

Story

Money towards cat vet bills & cremation costs for my sick cat from August & November who died at 2am on the 20th November. I am disabled, cannot work & live on a poverty income.

UPDATE: Goal reached! I earned a few donations from people who didn't use Justgiving, so the goal has been reached. Thank you so much for all the kind donations. I am so happy to be able to pay this off. RIP little girl. I miss you more and more each day.

UPDATE NOV 20th: My cat has died. She went to the vet again on the 19th for admission, diagnostics, medications etc, and at 2am on the 20th, she died. I am devastated. She was my baby. I am having her cremated and put in a casket. I am so lost without her. She was my baby, my life, my family and I miss her more than anything. I am so sad I wasn't there when she passed and I hope she didn't let go thinking we had abandoned her. I went to see her dead body on 20th Nov and said I wanted her cremated and put in a mini wooden casket like I did with my dog years ago.

PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN! sharing is free too! Help me pay these bills off from August and November for her insurance excess and 20% co-payment fees for vet bills and cremation fees.

She is insured, and only looking for the excess (paid once a year, so August) and 20% co-payment fees for Aug and Nov,

I am a disabled and chronically ill person living on a poverty income and I am trying to afford any of this! I cannot work and live on a few hundred pounds and I don't have heating for 3 years now due to cost and have minimal food.

Proof of 20% co-payment over age 9 (she was 12)

I have sectioned each part so you can skip to the part you need so you don't have to read it all. I also included an about me for those wondering about my income.

Funds are only for Aug and Nov vet bills, for the cat insurance excess (once a year, so included in Aug bill) and 20% co payment on all claims (due to her age 12) which includes August emergency fee x2, all admittance costs for Aug & Nov including, diagnostic tests such as xray, ultrasound, IV drip, many blood tests, endoscopy, feacal test, urine test, vet consultation fees, many medications including painkillers, anti-inflammatory, appetite stimulants, antibiotics etc, overnight fees for 2 nights for Aug & again overnight for Nov plus euthanasia, cremation etc.. Total is NOT fully updated as of 20th Nov as I need to find final fees for euthanasia, cremation etc, but the total may be similar to the £550 cost of Aug that I was initially raising for. The excess is only paid once a year, but the 20% copayment fee is due for everything due to her being almost 13.

As of 19th November, I have raised £215 of the £550 for August's vet bill insurance excess and 20% copay. That is purely for August's illness. Novembers vet bill will be around the same, but will update once I know final costs once I collect her ashes in the mini casket in a week or so.

August and November health issues and costs

(November first, August below)

November illness:

Now as of 19th Nov, she was admitted again as she became very ill November. She sadly died at 2am on the 20th. Please help if you can!

She has had diarrhoea and bloody in her poop since October. It was every day, but then went to every other day. I called the vet and they said it wasn't an emergency so booked her in for 2 weeks ahead which was the only appointment. Then she started eating less and less and hiding constantly. I spoke to the vets again and the triage nurser said it wasn't an emergency so it was fine to go next week (19th Nov). She had STOPPED eating as of 18th November, and barely pooping at all. She wasn't moving and was hiding constantly, very weak. As of 19th November, she was admitted for 2 nights (didn't make it to 2) and had the same diagnostic scans and blood tests from August as it was so similar. She then sadly took a turn for the worse at 1:55am and at 2am on the 20th Nov she died. I will be trying to raise the insurance excess (for Aug) & 20% co-pay.

Update 5:55pm 19th Nov:

She was admitted as a none emergency (they said it wasn't). Vet called and said the blood test is pointing to possible chronic kidney disease, many other things including CANCER! She was severely dehydrated, had anaemia, which apparently showed in Aug, but no one told me. They are doing imaging and more tests in the morning or tonight. Some things were raised back in August, but they didn't investigate properly. Only looking for the vet excess and 20% copayment fees. This is for Aug AND Nov. So far it will be another £350 minimum, but it could be similar to Aug with the euthanasia and cremation. Excess is paid once and 20% copay is for everything due to her age.

Update: 2am 20th Nov:

My cat died! Got a call at 1:55am saying come see her, she isn't doing well, then 5 mins later, she stopped breathing. They did CPR but she wasn't breathing on her own and there was no brain activity. So they euthanised her. She will be getting cremated too and getting her put into a small wooden casket to keep her with me forever. My baby is dead. I love her so much and miss her more than anything. Still need to pay the vet bills off for August and November as well as cremation costs, I can't stop crying.

November costs:

Costs include: 1x xray, 1x ultrasound, 1x urine analysis 1x faecal test, 2x blood tests, an IV drip, many medications including antibiotics, appetite stimulants, anti-inflammatory, strong opioid painkillers, plus euthanasia drug, private cremation fee, casket fee (haven't got full final list for Nov, but will update when I know)

(Total for November will increase as I get told the prices of tests for Novembers illness once I have picked up her cremated remains in around a week.)

August illness:

Update 30th August: She finished her medication and the final bill is coming this week. Already at £550 for excess and 20% copayment fee total.

I am trying to raise money towards cat vet bills for a sick cat who had to go to the vet multiple times for emergency appointments, had to stay in for 48 hours and had lots of diagnostic tests and medications.

She went to the vets for an emergency appointment and he gave her a blood test, painkiller and anti nausea medication, saying if she doesn't eat, to go back or to their sister building which is further away but 24 hours a day. He basically did nothing useful. Second visit was to the sister vet building and they admitted her for 48 hours, and did imaging including x-ray, ultrasound, urine analysis, endoscopy, numerous blood tests and other diagnostics. They also gave her lots of medications. This was also an emergency visit as they have no appointments for weeks otherwise.

She had stomach pain, fever, not eating, not pooping, lethargic, hiding away, not meowing, not grooming and more! She was a totally different cat!

August costs:

Done 17th August:

1x emergency fee, 1x vet fee, 1x blood test 2x medications (painkiller and anti nausea)

Admitted 19th Aug for:

2 nights stay fee, 1x vet fee, 1x emergency fee, 1x blood test, 1x x-ray, 1x ultrasound, 1x urine analysis, 1x endoscopy, any medications and painkillers which included appetite stimulant, painkiller, NSAID for fever, anti-nausea, anti-inflammatory meds and antibiotics.

20th Aut:

Told that the scans showed nothing. She had 3x x-ray, 2x ultrasound, 1x endoscopy, 2x urine analysis, 4x blood tests, an IV drip, many medications including antibiotics, appetite stimulants, anti-inflammatory meds and some others. They now think it is viral as many viral infections for cats do not show on blood tests. So they gave her numerous medications (listed above for 19th) and will be giving her more antibiotics, anti-nausea medications and anti-inflammatory meds tonight.

21st Aug:

She came home 20th Aug. They do NOT know the cause, but assume it is viral and said there is no way to find out which as there is no blood test to do this. She is on a lot of medication still for the next week. She had many more scans and blood tests as well as many medications whilst admitted for 48 hours..

I am only looking for the cat insurance excess and 20% co-payment fee, nothing more.

About me:

I'm severely chronically ill and disabled and cannot work at all and live on a low income. I live on £400 a month which isn't enough to live on as it is, and this costs much more than that!

I struggle to get by as it is and never have heating, have debt for my energy bills and barely eat anything. Even if I didn't eat for a week I wouldn't have enough money as I only have 1 meal a day due to income.

I can’t even afford heating or enough food to get by, and eat once a day, so this is more than I can pay. ALL my money is gone on bills and a small amount of food. I have hundreds of energy debt even though I can’t afford to put the heating on as it’s so expensive and there are standing charges.I have no relatives alive and £400 a month income doesn't cover hardly anything!

I have no relatives to help and I've asked the only friends I have left who are on Facebook (as most left when my health got bad and I became disabled), and raised all I can from the ones that can or want to help which I greatly appreciated. I never expect help from anyone as money is tight for many.

She is like a child to me and such a comfort being home all the time. She is literally like family to me and I have no relatives alive who could help.

I’ve done research and cannot get any assistance towards the fees which is why I have insurance for her, but the excess and co-payment is very high (20%) due to her age (12, 13 in Dec). Excess is only due once per year (for aug), but 20% copay is due on everything else.

Please help me pay for her bills and cremation! Please! She is my baby. Sharing is FREE and can help.

The PDSA's near me were not taking anyone on but I can't get free treatment anyway as you need to have certain benefits for that. They have a reduced cost scheme they have would have been more than it would have been with insurance anyway. They were my first port of call but I could not get it free with them as you have to meet certain requirements, and the local PDSA closed down, and the next one is about 30 miles away and are not taking on patients anyway due to capacity. I have insurance anyway, so that covers the cost of this treatment, I just have to pay for the excess and 20% co-payment fee.

Please help me! She's my baby and I have no relatives alive to help. I am literally an orphan.

Anything helps! Even a few pounds. Sharing is FREE!

Please share this if you can as someone you know may want to help even if you can't or don't want to help.

Photo of monthly income:

I cannot work anymore due to chronic illnesses that leave me disabled. I worked for years, but that even went against me and is now why I cannot get more than I already do. That £400 a month PIP is all I can get and that is before all bills and expenses.

Full info on income for those interested into why I cannot get anymore money than I do already:

I cannot get more than PIP alone at £400 a month income because of national insurance (NI) contributions. Even though I can no longer work due to disability, I cannot get ESA all because of national insurance. I worked for years full time until I couldn‘t work full time, so instead of just quitting totally, I worked part time for years as I physically couldn’t work any more hours, which means that I wasn't paying NI as you only pay it after working over a certain amount of hours to earn over a certain amount of money. So I can never get ESA as you need 2 full years NI from work! I cant do that anymore! Working literally went against me! Even though I do have over 2 years full NI contributions, just not in the 2 years prior to applying for ESA, because I couldn't physically work enough hours to hit the threshold to qualify to pay NI. So all I get is credits only ESA which is NI credits towards my pension, no money. I have contacted DWP, advice charities, solicitor, my MP and even parliament who have all told me multiple times I will never get ESA ever because of this. I spent years trying! I even have parliamentary reply confirming this. You can also go see yourself on the government website for ESA that you need 2 years NI contributions from work in the 2 years prior to applying for ESA. Working 16 or 12 hours a week at minimum wage means I didn't hit the threshold to pay NI.
