Story

We are trying to raise the funds to help a remarkable and inspirational man to be able to compete in International Blind Golf competitions.

This is Billy's story:

At the age of 39 Billy had a well paid job, a nice home and a happy marriage. Then totally out of the blue, one day he woke up completely blind. Overnight untreated diabetes had destroyed both of his retinas without warning. Over the next few months Billy became depressed and started drinking too much. He lost his job, his home and his marriage broke down. He was homeless and slept rough for 11 weeks. At this low point Billy even contemplated suicide . But his resiliance won through and Billy fought back. From that terrible place astonishingly he managed to turn his life around. Billy now works as a Disability Employment Adviser , has a lovely partner, Lisa, and took up golf as a hobby. And not only did Billy learn to play golf only after he became completely blind, he became very good at it. So good that he went on to win the blind golfing versions of The Masters, finished top 3 in the World Championship and is currently #5 in the world. Billy would love to compete in International competitions in 2024, but he won't be able to if he can't raise the funds to pay for his travel costs.

Please make a donation to Billy's fund to enable him to compete internationally in 2024

Any funds raised in excess of the travel costs will be donated to charities that have helped Billy or that he wishes to help because of his personal experience: These are his local homeless charity and RNIB, England & Wales Blind Golf and Disabled Golf.

Thank you
