Iʼve raised £20 to Keep Barford St Michael Post Office and Shop open. It's the only amenity in the village and a part of its history.

    Story

The post office in Barford St Michael is idyllic. Opened in 1990 by Barbara Alt, the shop is attached to the main house of the family who run it and have been doing so for decades. It is the only amenity other than the pub for miles and is a life line for children/elderly/disabled or those who can't drive. People now go to supermarkets and the shop can't afford to stay open unless a drastic amount of money is raised or spent in the shop. It's a part of the community and deserves to be saved.

My name is Emily Gale. I grew up in South Newington, which is the next village along from Barford. The post office means a lot to me as growing up I cycled to and from it hundreds of times to buy sweets in the summer months. It is part of my life and if I can save it I will.
