Story
BAWC is pleased to announce our first field project. We are working with experienced raptor workers to tag birds of prey in the north of England. The aim will be to study birds of prey and to gain evidence of raptor persecution in known persecution hot-spots. Technical field testing has already been carried out and we expect the first birds to be tagged by licensed raptor workers this season. We hope that you will understand that we need to be rather tight-lipped about exactly what we are planning to do, where we are planning to do it and especially who is involved. Even those who kill raptors can use the internet!
Will you support this project and help reduce wildlife crime? We need to raise £19,000 in the next six weeks to get this project off to a flying start in 2017. Please give us your support.

8 years agoToday brings an end to the crowdfunder. THANK YOU for your generosity. Here you have raised over £19k, and with more contributions off line, the project will more than double in size, due to your efforts. The project team will now start work, and initially that will be very quiet, we will not be publishing info about it yet, this is for the integrity of the project and to protect the fieldworkers. Also because of the way this site works, this may be our last update, to stay in touch follow us on Twitter or Facebook, and again THANK YOU.

8 years agoWe are on the home straight, having exceeded our original goal and set ourselves a tougher challenge we are only just over 2k short. In addition we have received some offline donations. There are some big shout outs due, such as St Marys RC School for their Bake Sale and Probably Bird Society; but really the thing that stands out is the community - we are so pleased to be able to do something and it is you guys that are making it possible. Thanks

8 years agoYes, we are trying to raise more! Following the early success of the fundraising, and the messages of support we have received we contacted the fieldworkers to confirm the next stages, and to discuss making the project bigger. We are excited to say that the initial work is underway and we have decided to up our target to enable the project to tag more birds. If you have already donated please consider sharing this page with friends and colleagues. More updates will follow as we progress. And again we are grateful for all of your support.

Great job...the authorities might be doing nothing to protect our wildlife but there's still plenty we can do on our own, or better still, together!

Well done on the success of the crowdfunder. Please show the wildlife criminals that we won't put up with their disgusting behaviour anymore.
