Story
Ashleigh was complaining of pain in her leg in November 2016, we as parents put it down to growing pains, she kept complaining so i took her to our local A&E where they carried out an x-ray. We were then told by the registrar that his "gut" feeling was that she had cancer....This as you can imagine was a parents worst nightmare. We then had additional tests and it was confirmed that Ashleigh had an Osteosarcoma. Osteosarcoma, or osteogenic sarcoma, is a rare type of bone cancer. Osteosarcoma usually develops in growing bones. It‘s most common in teenagers and young adults. Any bone in the body can be affected, but the most common sites are the arms or legs, particularly around the knee joint.
Ashleigh has been receiving intensive Chemotherapy since the diagnosis and is very weak and unable to move around for long periods of time. She is due to have an evasive operation on the 31st January to remove the tumour. The surgery will leave her Wheelchair bound for sometime so we are looking to adapt the family home to enable Ashleigh to live a normal life in this period of restricted mobility. Any amount you can give will be a great help. Thank you

8 years agoA massive thankyou to everyone that has supported us as a family through this very difficult time. I'm pleased to say that we have excelled in raising enough funds to enable us to adapt the family home to meet the needs of Ashleigh as she battles this cruel disease. Ashleigh is back in UCH now again having a course of Chemotherapy, she's doing really well recovering from the operation and managing the treatment really well. Thank you so much to everyone.. you are truly the best. We love you all. Chris, Rachael, Lennie and Ashleigh. xxx

8 years agoAshleigh is doing really well. She has started putting some weigh on her leg and using the crutches more and more. The new drug that they have introduced as part of her MAP cycles means she will hopefully never get an Sarcomas returning. Great news. We are now up to 10K of fundraising which is epic. I've submitted the Building plans to the council so should have approval in a few weeks to start building so get ready all those tradesmen friends that said would help. Once again thank you to everyone and especially the Bash4Boo Team.

Our daughter Ashleigh Massey was diagnosed with an Osteosarcoma in November 2016. She is due to have a significant operation in February 2017 to remove the Tumour. This means she will struggle with her mobility so we need to adapt the house for wheelchair access.
