Story
UPDATE - We have now far surpassed our fundraising goal! As per Justgiving's policy, we must keep this page open for 30 days, however we can ask no more of our amazing supporters. Thank you!
Evina Koroni, the founder of the CatCuddles Sanctuary, has been fostering abandoned and unwanted cats at her home for the better part of 10 years. They are fostered until they can be found loving new homes through the charity, inside her house and in specially-designed garden cabins that are kept spotlessly clean.
Last year, Evina was directed to make a retrospective planning application to Greenwich Council for the fostering. All available information suggested that this was a formality, as Evina had been peacefully fostering cats at her residence for such a long time, in extremely hygienic, well managed conditions.
However the application was refused on February 1st.
The official process to appeal this decision will cost a minimum of £2500. The charity, which is no kill and volunteer-run, does not receive any funding aside from donations, and does not want to exhaust funds set aside to save cats, so desperately needs help to raise this money.
As the charity’s founder, Evina is the most important in a network of volunteer foster carers across London. Though she fosters only a small number of cats at her home, most are adopted very rapidly. This quick turnover means that through Evina’s fostering alone the charity helps literally hundreds of cats, taking many from the most unfortunate of circumstances and placing all in loving forever homes.
Unless the council's decision is reversed through an appeal however, this will stop. Many cats and many people will be left without help for an unknown period of time as the charity is forced to readjust. It's presence in the borough of Greenwich will likely lessen, and this area is already without adequate coverage from animal rescue centres.

8 years agoThe response to our fundraising appeal has been beyond amazing. Justgiving requires that we continue this fundraiser for a minimum of 30 days, however we now feel that we have more than enough for any legal fees incurred in challenging the council's decision. We can't ask for any more from you all - our supporters, adopters, volunteers, and those who simply heard our story and felt compelled to help. Any left over funds will go directly towards rehoming, rehabilitating and rescuing cats!
