Story
Max and I have come to Thailand to train in Muay Thai for 3 months.
The day we arrived in Thailand we were given the tragic news that Max's dad Andy had died peacefully but unexpectedly in his sleep at 50 years old. The day after his 50th birthday.
The funeral is on the 10th of March and we need help with funding flights and funeral costs.
Andy loved combat sports, he was incredibly proud that his son was going to Thailand to learn Muay Thai under the best. Your money will also help us get back to Thailand after the funeral so Max can continue training in his father's honour.
Max had saved the £62 a week he gets as a carer for his severely mentally unwell mother but unfortunately had to give the majority to his mother as she became homeless due to her mental illness.
Max was incredibly close to his father who battled his own mental health issues for 19 years and Lymphoma for the last 4 years of his life. Andy did not discuss any of his illness with his children. Max and his sister Alicia were never prepared for his death and learning that they have lost their father at only 23 and 25 respectively has left them both distraught.
Helping Max and I get back to Thailand will allow Max to achieve something that his father would be incredible proud of.
My name is Alana, I am Max's partner and have witnessed him save his mother from the deepest depths of mental illness. When Max and his mother became homeless Andy shared his 1 bedroom flat with his ex-wife and son, whilst fighting his own battles. Andy was the only one that gave Max the courage to continue to fight for his mothers treatment and then to go to Thailand for achieve his own dreams.
Max cannot live with not attending the funeral of the man who made, supported and encouraged him.
Max and Alicia have been through more than anyone else I know. Their mother is still homeless and your money will help them through this difficult time in among a sea of difficult times.
Thank you :)

8 years agoPart 2: We have travelled 18 hours and we are back in Phuket. Thank you to those who have shared and donated to the page. The money will help us pay back the loan we needed to get to pay for the funeral and which allowed us to get our flights home on time. Everyone is still hurting. A month has passed but it feels like only yesterday we got the news of his death. Your donations and sharing of the page, and acts of support have helped us all through this. Thank you ❤️

8 years agoPart 1: Andy's funeral was on the 10th of March. It was a beautiful service which was followed by Andy's body finally being laid to rest at Highworth Cemetary, close to his family. I would like to say the funeral gave us all some closure but I can't say that any of us feel better. We were lucky to be surrounded by friends who helped us with kind words.
