Sadly a few years ago my mother in law took her car to a local "Volkswagen specialists" to be restored. Over the few years it was in hiding it soon unraveled that we had fallen victims to a fraudulent scam! The "specialists" had sold our engine and other vital parts and taken ££££'s of our hard earned money! The reason we had taken it to this garage is because it was hard for us to afford the rebuild in one go and we were advised they could do it in part payments rebuilding him piece by piece. We were lied to and scammed out of money and although the case is now in crown court this doesn't mean that justice will be served and all those effected will get their hard earned money and much loved vehicles back. My mother in law is devastated and at this present moment it time it seems that nothing will help bring back our beloved Alfie. The car holds many happy memories for everyone in the family. From drives to Cornwall to being used as prom cars. I for one can say it is especially important to me because the first time I saw my wonderful wife. She was the passenger in the gorgeous firetrap red beetle. We know this is only a fraction of what we need to get him back on the road, but it would certainly get it into a condition that family could continue to work on him until he is finished! it just tears us apart to think we may have to let him go but the constant storage costs are taking a toll!
Sadly we could not use the beautiful beetle for my wedding this year but the fond memories of driving to the shops in Mum's beetle will hopefully become fond memories of driving to the shops in Nanny Kate's Classic car!
