Story
Jersey Airport Fire Service - The National Three Peaks Challenge September 2024.
Trek team : Ross Aley, Curtis Monks, Jack Langford, Mark Ray, Neil Harvey, Marcin Mietelka, Alan Bertram
A team from ARFFS are undertaking a challenge that involves trekking the highest mountains across Scotland, England, and Wales.
Our challenge will see us starting in the Welsh mountains with Snowdon standing at 1,085m, 3,560 ft. Upon completion of Snowdon, we travel north the same day and into the Lake District in England where we will climb Scafell Pike our second mountain of the day, Scafell Pike stands at 978m, 3,209 ft high.
Once we have completed our second peak, we will then continue to drive north through the night to arrive in Scotland at Fort William ready to climb Ben Nevis, which at 1,344 metres, or 4,409 ft is the tallest of the three. The three peaks are known to be a tough challenge as weather conditions can change very quickly, we will also have the challenge of travelling between the peaks by minibus with one journey estimated at being circa 6hrs through the night.
We will be setting off on our journey from Jersey on Tuesday 10th September with our climbing starting on Wednesday morning, we then return to Jersey on Thursday 12th September hopefully all having completed the final peak that day.
We are raising money for Soccer Stars Juniors a project that was created and run by Airport Firefighter, Mark Ray, who is also participating in this challenge. Soccer Stars was set up by Mark, in his spare time, and offers free football sessions for young people between the ages of seven and 14 who don't fit into mainstream football clubs because of learning or physical disabilities.

1 month agoA Huge Thank You for your support and donation for our Three Peaks Challenge. Thanks to you and your generosity, we smashed our target! The money donated will be going towards free football sessions for young people between the ages of seven and 14 who don't fit into mainstream football clubs because of learning or physical disabilities. It gives these young people the opportunity to work as a team and develop friendships as well as giving them confidence to participate in something they wouldn’t normally have access to. THANK YOU.
