Story

The Greencore Social Distancing Relay on May 14th & 15th 2022 is being run to raise awareness of Mental Health & Team 8:56

On 15th April 2021 the world tragically lost Lee Calton to suicide at the age of 37. Lee tragically took his own life during the COVID-19 pandemic. He was successful, universally loved and financially secure, his death was a shock to the whole community.

Lee was an incredibly popular and well-respected Linnet, he was a Family Man first & foremost and a loyal friend to all those that had the fortune to meet him, he loved music, food, drink but his real passion was for Sport.

Lee was a massive Football Fan, he loved Arsenal but had a real passion for following our local team, King’s Lynn Town FC.

Lee and his friends would follow Lynn all over the Country, catching the 8:56 Train out on a Saturday morning. These days were filled with friendship, laughter, beer, banter, and the Match. The 8:56 was something Lee held in such high regard – happy times, fond memories and friends that were always there together for one another no matter what.

Ultimately the 8:56 is just a time but it represents far more than that – it’s a journey that Lee and his friends would take almost every week during the Football season – one which represents strength, support, and sense of belonging than can be found in a group.

No matter if you are winning or losing, whatever the weather they all turn up regardless
