Story

In September 2023 James Cronin, of The Jarell Group, and Mike Pincott, of The GMP Recruitment Group, are putting themselves up the creek, but very much with paddles, to raise further funds for the fantastic New Hope Children's Charity in Worcester.

Setting off at the earliest navigable point in the Welsh mountains at the source of the River Severn James and Mike will be winding their way across the UK until reaching the mouth of the Severn near Portishead. There will be strong currents, weirs, rapids and a world of swans to contend with - all of which needs to be completed within 7 days.

The boys intend to raise £7,000 through donations from family, friends, colleagues clients, sponsors and suppliers.

Seven thousand pounds. Seven Days. River Severn. #7sevensevern

The world continues to get tighter and tighter and, through nobodies fault, a lot of charities go wanting - arguably none more so than respite and disability charities.

Jean and the team at New Hope provide so much more than just a centre for children and young adults with disabilities. They provide a place of fun, joy and inclusion where all service users have the opportunity to make friends and memories the same as any other child. Beyond this - one of the hardest hit groups from the current financial crisis is the families of special needs individuals as the benefits that are available cover less and less, consequently the ability for these families to pay for day care and respite has diminished leaving them less able to get out and live and socialise and look after themselves so they, in turn, can look after their loved one. A paramount concern to the team at New Hope, second only to the care they give the service users, is to keep the costs that are passed to the families for the care they provide to the bare minimum. They can only do this if the money coming in increases.

All of the monies raised goes straight to New Hope to pay for facilities, day trips and the towards the team.

It isn't lost on the boys that money is incredibly tight - They are not asking to spend what you can't spare. They are asking as many people as they can to spend what they readily can.

Wish the boys luck!
