Story
On New Years Eve 2021 50027 suffered a power to earth fault.
The fault was traced to its main generator. The complete power unit was removed in October 2022 and was sent away for specialist inspection repair.
With a favourable price given for the repair of the main gen, on the 1st April 2023 both the eth and aux gens were also removed and sent away to be inspcted. The eth generator is a troublesome gen and has seen various preserved 50s fail with the banding on the com going way and costing 10000s to repair. With this in mind it was decided to change the banding and clean and bake both of them. This will cost quite a lot and pretty much skint the locos reserve funds
