Story

On Sunday 11th of September, we will be running the Great North Run half marathon in support of the 4Ed Campaign and the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

We've both been huge fans of Gloucester Rugby as we grew up playing for our local team, with the Gloucester rugby family supporting us as youngsters. As such, we felt we should do what we could to raise money in support of Ed Slater. Ed was unfortunately recently diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND). By fundraising for 4Ed and MNDA we hope to be able to aid in their efforts of raising awareness of MND as well as financially support their services.

You can listen to Ed Slater talk about his recent diagnosis and how it has impacted him, his family and friends, here on The Rugby Pod: https://open.spotify.com/episode/7sEvpXhmcuHEhVDbVPcqp9?si=KgEFPguNR023zDNtNSpTyA

Motor neurone disease (MND) is a fatal rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, attacking the nerves that control movement so muscles no longer work. It kills a third of people within a year and more than half within two years of diagnosis. It’s a devastating disease that affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time and kills six people every day. There is no cure.

We appreciate any and all support, with all proceeds being equally split between the 4Ed Campaign and MNDA. We hope that our small contribution can help raise awareness, and contribute to care & research.
