    Story

    UPDATE:

To Celebrate 75 Years of Keele University staff predominantly from the Estate and Campus Services team took on the National 3 Peaks Challenge in 24 hours on the 14th of September 2024.

Our team could not have asked for worse weather, we battled 60/70 MPH winds and driving rain on each mountain and even snow at Ben Nevis. As a team we completed the challenge in 28 hours.

    .............................................................................................................................................

To celebrate 75 Years of Keele University we are going to conquer The National Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours on 14th September 2024!!!

We will be aiming to raise at least £750 to go to two local charities that are dear to us The Dove Service who are the only grief support charity in Stoke-on-Trent & North Staffordshire, providing services to people within the community from the age of 4+ who are experiencing issues relating to bereavement, loss or life-changing illness & Dougie Mac who provide hospice services free of charge to over 3,500 local people with life-limiting illnesses each year in Stoke-on-Trent, North Staffordshire and the surrounding villages, also offering supportive care to their families and carers. .

We are predominantly from the Estate and Campus Services team at Keele however we are being supported by other teams across the University such as Keele Student Union, School of Geography Geology and Environment along with Physio and Sports teams. This challenge will see 10 team members scale the three highest peaks in the UK—Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England, and Snowdon in Wales—within 24 hours.

We are aware that this is a big challenge for us. We are busily undertaking training to get ready to push our limits and conquer these mountains. The 3 peaks challenge will see us climbing over 10,00 feet over 23 miles with nearly 500 miles of driving in between!

Despite the physical and mental demands, our team is driven by the knowledge that every step we take brings us closer to making a real difference.

Your support is crucial to our success so PLEASE support us if you can and donate to these amazing charities.

    Thank you for your support!

Left-right; Jamie Banner, Alex Scott, Chris Beeston, Paul Dry, Maria Valle, Neil Flavell, Kieran Latham, Iain Couzens, Marlon Harewood, Nena Lawrence, Adam Worthington.
