Story

Whether bordering on insanity or just refusing to grow old we are undertaking our greatest sporting challenge testing both our mental and physical boundaries by aiming to play tennis and padel for 24 hours straight.

Yes, no sleep!!

After agreeing to “go for it” we soon realised we would need a huge amount of motivation and incentivisation. Let’s face it, who in their right mind wants to play tennis at 3am on a Sunday morning?! We decided therefore to put our insanity to good use and aim to raise as much money as possible for our chosen charity, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Why this charity??

1) The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an independent charity NOT funded by Government, NHS etc

2) The charity provides emergency response services to over 5 million people across all of Yorkshire

3) Even if you are not lucky enough to live in Yorkshire, the charity responds to incidents on the major motorways as the M1, M62, M18 and A1 run through the area.

4) It costs £19,000 a day to keep the service running; and to repeat

5) This is an independent charity

So “Yes”, we probably are crazy, but I hope you will agree this is a worthwhile cause, and whilst we fully appreciate there are far too many “good causes” requiring lots of help and we hope you never have the need to use the service, this might be one that might just save you or a family member’s life.

Please help us!! At 3am on Sunday morning, the thought that we still have nine hours to go will be tough BUT knowing we can make just a little difference to people’s lives by raising money through this challenge will help inspire us to keep going.

That and a lot of jelly babies!!
