    Story

Supporting the rights for young refugees to equal education and creative learning.

Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya, is the 2nd largest in the world. It's home to nearly 200,000 displaced people whom have been forced to flee neighbouring countries. Many arrive with nothing apart from the clothes on their backs. They then live here, in one of the worlds largest waiting rooms, for an average time of 18 years. Our aim is to do something about this and make life & education in the camp better. We intend to do this by using the money raised to support creative educational programmes run by MyStart and Film Aid charities. The art and film work produced by students involved in projects run by these organisations is toured and exhibited throughout schools in the UK. This important advocacy work has proved incredibly effective in educating people about the plight of refugees, removing the stigmas attached and promoting tolerance and empathy for refugee communities around the work and living here in the UK. Dear everyone that has supported us this far, the whole team would just like to thank you for all contributions, financially or through awareness (social media etc...) in the last month or so and are pleased to say that last night we finished our 24 Hour Ergo, with every team member completing their four hours in one block. We have raised a huge amount for MyStart and are extremely happy and excited by the fact that we can be involved in how the money will be assigned but haven't finished yet, and the page is still open for another week!!
