Story

WE ARE GOOD TO GO.👍👍👍

On the 15th of August i will attempt to cross the English Channel in an 18ft P&H Scorpio sea kayak. After an early injury in training and the corona virus locking us down, at 48 years old I will be completing an epic 222 mile Kayak challenge whether i'm ready or not. 😁😁😁

Setting off from Dungeness UK, the gruelling 29 miles across the English Channel begins. From there i will kayak everyday down the Normandy coastline to Pegasus Bridge War Memorial (France). Having suffered with mental health and trying to take my life in May 2018, I know what it is like to not be ok and have no one to turn too. I have taken on this mental and physical challenge to help break the stigma and to inspire those who suffer to start talking.❤❤❤

The trip is for me to push the boundaries of mental wellbeing, endurance, physical capability and the funds raised will help all the veterans that need physical, mental and financial support.

From Dungeness, I will kayak on average 12 hours a day until I get to the Pegasus Bridge memorial on the 6th June 2020 (now 25th August). where I will lay a wreath & remember our fallen and their sacrifice. Moving on to the final stopping point, Point Du Hòc. This is where the challenge finishes!

Having suffered with PTSD for many years & not speaking out I tried to take my life May 2018! Having been on this journey of recovery and understanding why we are what we are, why we think like we do, why we react like we react. By therapy, I find myself in a better place & able to now help others on theirs through my own personal experience.

The fundraising will support the Hubs that have been set up to help support those through difficult times whether that be mentally, physically or financially or sometimes just an ear to rent. Andy Price opened the Veterans Hub, Weymouth just over a year ago and immediately found that veterans having been suffering in silence for years with mental health & has tried to give these guys & girls somewhere to relax ,feel part off and accepted, along with the usual banter & a cuppa.

After the successful launch of the Veterans Hub in Swindon, the numbers of veterans has grown and grown, and now we support many veterans, and with your help will continue our work and be there when ever needed. your donation no matter how small will save lives and keep families together. ❤❤❤

We would like to thank our sponsors who have kindly donated to our fundraising challenge: Synister Music Events, MFor Festival, Gel Studios, Barnes Coaches, ASF Signs, Canoe & Kayak Store, Cotswold Canoe Hire, Talk In Code, Craig Cohoon Watersports, All Call Signs,
