Story

“Thousands of people we don’t know, helping thousands of people they don’t know”

Total of sponsorship, events, and pledges offline currently amount to over £40,000

The 120Marathons are back on, after a 15 month Covid delay and another unscheduled 15 months of training we will now be leaving on June 26th 2021. I will set of on an epic challenge of 120marathons in 120 days with my dog Tilly, she is a 4year old Poochon who loves to walk. The total miles will be 3180 miles covering 26.5 miles a day for 120 consecutive days. To put into context this will be like walking across the Atlantic Ocean from Leeds to New York City.

We are taking the 4 months on a self financed trip to raise monies for a number of local and national charities. We will be on the road from 26/06/21-23/10/21 completing 120marathons in 120 days over 5 countries and 4 Isles.

The 120Marathons will be made up of recognised routes, people will be encouraged to come out and take part and do as much as they feel they can complete.

The 15 charities that I have chosen to support to varying degrees have all had an impact in both my personal and professional life. I have chosen charities both national and local to Yorkshire. We will be supporting Macmillan, British Heart Foundation, Tiny Life, St Michaels Hospice, Yorkshire Air ambulance, Living with CAH, Harrogate Homeless Project, Disability Sports Yorkshire, along with numerous art groups. The monies raised will be split, 90% will go to the medical and caring charities and 10% to the art projects.

I have lost family and friends through Cancer and heart failure. My youngest daughter was born with a rare condition that she has learned to deal with but with a strong will, determination and support from hospitals and support charities she has overcome most difficulties associated with the condition. I have seen the empowerment that sport gives kids and young adults who have disabilities to take part in sport.
I have had the benefit of seeing the Yorkshire Air Ambulance attending remote accidents and providing lifesaving care to people who otherwise die from injuries. The Harrogate homeless project providing day to day services for those finding themselves unfortunate to be without food accommodation and hope, we have seen in the rise for this service in the past 15 months

Finally you may be unaware of the great opportunities theatres and groups provide for young and old people alike. Theatres are much more than buildings with history; they are the backbone of many small communities providing a lifeline as a community hub.
