Dora is an environmentally focused soon to be 11 year old girl. Her Birthday wish is to organize a sponsored walk for an environmental charity with an aim to raise awareness of the local issues.

Since we moved to the area the river has been one of our choices for quiet walks. It became busier when the exercising distance from home was limited for all. Observing the environment also inspired a highly praised homework presentation about water birds and found an ideal tree to practice climbing.

The River Aire has been important in our lives and we’re excited to do our part to preserve and enhance its health so everybody can enjoy it just as much as we are.

Dora and her schoolfriends will walk and collect at least 11 bags of rubbish alongside The River Aire in Hunslet Leeds.

The walk will take place on Saturday, 5th March 11AM.

Please support these 11year olds to raise £2011 for Friends of The Aire which covers part of the River Aire from Leeds Dock to Knostrop Weir. Originally we targeted £111 but since the children were born in 2011 we opted to be more ambitious. Achieving this goal would help inspire youngsters when they are taking such an avid interest in environmental issues.

Funds will be used to purchase equipment and organize activities to help improve the environment of the river.
