Story
Unfortunately, The Palestine Children Relief Fund is not currently affliiated with JustGiving so I am unable to directly link the charity to this website, all money raised will go directly to the charity and proof of donation will be shown.
The Cause
The story of the Palestinian struggle is one we are all unfortunately, all too familiar with. The oppression and violence by Israel has resulted in countless trauma, atrocities and devastation. We wanted to help the people of Palestine beyond education through social media and prayer and have decided to run 10K to raise funds for the charity chosen below:
The Palestine Children's Relief Fund (The PCRF) is a non-profit organization addressing the medical and humanitarian crisis facing children. The office was recently bombed by Israel which has heavily impacted this important charity and all the work it does for the children of Palestine.
On the afternoon of May 17, PCRF's main office was damaged by an airstrike on the MOH offices in Rimal, in Gaza City. No PCRF staff were injured or in the building at the time of the bombing. The safety of our team and that of the Gaza people is our highest priority at this time" -@ThePCRF(twitter).
The PCRF provides urgent and direct humanitarian aid to one million children who have been victims of physical, mental and emotional violence and trauma due to bombs and violence at the hands of Israel. The money raised will go towards helping rebuild the infrastructure for The Palestine Children's Relief Fund and also to help fund the urgent medical aid and humanitarian work carried out.
For 30 years, PCRF has been on the ground providing direct humanitarian aid and caring for tens of thousands of Gaza's children through:
Sending injured kids abroad for free medical care they cannot get locally, sponsoring orphans and disabled youths to meet their basic humanitarian needs; running several humanitarian program and projects, including the Gaza amputee project and providing thousands of children food and medicine; sending hundreds of volunteer doctors on medical missions to provide free care for injured children and training for local doctors; large infrastructure projects, like building Gaza's first and only pediatric cancer department, where hundreds of children get free care.
Their Gaza orphan sponsorship program provides food and clothing for hundreds of kids who lost parents to war and disease.
What can we do to help?
Our team of three: Rabiah, Fahiza and Simrah have commited to running a 10K this year on Sunday the 27th June 2021.
We are not regular runners and following Ramadan and lockdown, admittedly not as active as we could be, we want to challenge ourselves and with your help, raise as much money as we can for this important cause.
