Each year, I walk to raise funds for a cancer based cause in memory of my Mum, who lost her brave fight to cancer 10 years ago this Sep. Her considerate, compassionate and loving presence is missed by all who knew her, and a decade on, her fortitude remains awe-inspiring..

Her passing was TRULY heartbreaking, but the one silver lining has been that in the years leading up to and after her loss, my family got to experience the incredible kindness, humanity and generosity strangers are capable of! Some of these strangers went on to become good friends and an integral part of our lives.

Pawan topped that list: warm, loving & generous like none other! His sunshiny presence lit up many a dark moments as I got back on my feet after Mum. Sadly, he passed earlier this year, leaving many wanting to celebrate his life, spirit and legacy..

This Sep 9-10, I will be walking 100kms along the Thames, Putney to Henley, in memory of my strong, beautiful, kind-hearted Mum, Sunaina, and my loving, large-hearted 'dariya-dil' pal, Pawan. I am hoping to raise £10k for a cause that was very dear to Pawan, and one that I am sure my mother would approve of whole-heartedly - 'empowering and educating children and women in the slums of Delhi..'

For those who knew Pawan, you already know about Udyam - he worked tirelessly in support of Udyam's agenda. For the others, Udyam is a not for profit committed to bridging the gap in quality K12 education and to assist in the overall development of children via 4 key programs,
Nirmaan: remedial classes, nursery to 12, for children attending local govt/municipal schools
Udaan: extra curricular activities for integrated development
Saarthi: mentoring to appraise, prepare and equip the pupils for life
Mahila Samarthya: educate & empower women for long lasting social change
