We use the power of football to to change lives in deprived communities

Story

On Sunday 15 September, I'll be walking the full 21 miles of the Edinburgh Kiltwalk to raise funds for Africa On The Ball, a charity I've been a trustee for since 2021. It'll be the furthest I've walked in a LONG time, so it's no mean feat.

Africa On The Ball is a small international sport for development charity founded in Scotland, that uses the power of football to improve education, healthcare, gender equality and enterprise in disadvantaged communities of Africa, starting in Kalingalinga, Zambia.

The money I raise will not only help support the community football club which empowers both boys and girls, and men and women equally with a sense of focus, purpose and team spirit in a safe place, but will fund more academic scholarships, first aid training, plus inclusivity and enterprise projects to help sustainably change lives.

Every single pound raised will go directly to supporting our work.

You can learn more about our work at https://www.africaontheball.org, sign up as a supporter, or even join us on the Kiltwalk!

I'm grateful for any support you can give.

We use football to promote positive change: health messages, education, community development, gender equality. We give young people – boys and girls – the chance to play football in a structured way, as part of a team. And as part of that team, we help them to learn new things and give something back to their community through outreach programmes.
